The hotel has ski town charm - it is ageing but in a very classic way. I really enjoyed the pieces of ski & hotel history that were displayed around the public areas. The staff were very friendly with great English - a hotel shuttle is scheduled frequently throughout the day to take you around the town. It is very close to a ski lift so walking is the way to go for the resort. Other neighboring resorts can be reached by a shuttle that stops outside the hotel. Very handy to have a great ski hire shop next to the hotel too! The hotel had great quirks; We kept picking up the free origami that was left around the hotel (noted as free for guests to take!). Instead of room cleaning, you could choose to get coupons for junk food at reception - Chocolate & chips tempted us most days instead of the cleaning! The Onsen is special - one is outside, landscaped with rocks & the sound of running waterfall style water was very soothing. Made it a very Japanese style of ski resort, loved it. The rooms are very comfortable & spacious by Japanese standards. The bathroom in ours was small, but same as other hotels & I preferred to use the Onsen for showering anyway. The lobby areas are spacious & plenty of couches by the fire to sit all day if you’re not a skier. The breakfast had great options & we enjoyed it. The hours are more limited than standard hotels so double check to be aware. We didn’t want to miss out! Recommend the day your to Nagano with the snow monkeys too. The hotel is superb - cosy classic ski feel. I usually go for modern hotels but so glad we chose this one - so much character!

overall I think it is a great summer experience in the woods! it is very close to the gondola lift going up to Happon Pond. it is basically a walkable distance during the summer. and I believe it is going to be confident for skiing during the winter. This place has a style that makes you feel European, the main building looks like a villa from central Europe, and the interior has a classic Western deco with some Japanese elements, especially the memory of the 1998 Olympics. the lounge has 2 lovely fireplaces, even though this is summer, I could imagine how this will light the joy in your heart during the winter. I think this is the only resort you can find in the area. the hotel has several sectors and even has a camp area called "the forest" next to it. you can order drinks in the pub and sit next to the fireplace, that is so much fun during the summer. The dinner buffet is absolutely amazing, you must book it! every dish is freshly made with the best flavor you can ever taste, it is very impressive and definitely a great treat after a long hike during the day. and the staffs are very nice and helpful. had an interesting conversation with the driver who picked us up from the station, the front also gives us very clear instructions on the timetable of the bus and all tourist information. special thanks to Miss Chen and the South Asian waiter(forgive me I didn't catch his name) in the diner. overall I think it is totally worth the price and may be one of the best places for a family trip in the area regardless of the seasons. this is the place you should stay in Hakuba.

This resort hotel is one of the best I have ever stayed at. The staff are very helpful and friendly. All of them can speak fluent English. They are also very flexible in helping me to arrange transport and travel plan. They have shuttle bus to JR station and bus station every hour, very convenient to visit shops and restaurants. Happo Gondola Station is within walking distance. Besides, there is a shuttle bus to Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort and Tsugaike outside the hotel. You can also get discount gondola ticket there. Hotel decor is forest wooden lodge. Lobby is spacious. This hotel also provide glamping facilities in the Forest. There is a tree house, foot onsen, campfire and a few tents for hotel guests to use. I am impressed by the marshmallow for guests to use in campfire. Next time I will try glamping. The buffet breakfast and dinner are not the "best best", but are plenty with good quality. They have roast beef! They have a big dinning area both indoor and outdoor. You can enjoy breakfast with bird singing. The room is big and beds are very comfortable. Onsen is clean and spacious.

Mominoki is a classic. I have being there already three times. It is a comfortable mountain hotel with old charme . Lots of wood around, old furniture, old rugs, good breakfast, good dinner, small but nice onsen. Rooms are large and comfortable enough, the only minus is the size of the bathrooms, which are really small. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a very well provided sport boutique next door where we can find everything we need for skiing or snowboarding. The distance to the ski field could be annoying ( some 300 /400 meters) but acceptable. The shuttle buses stop just on the doorstep

Yuki and the rest of the team are so helpful and accommodating. They were the best to made us feel so welcomed ❤️ Though, there was abit of a hike up if you’re walking to the hotel, but the view was amazing and there were snow monkeys nearby too! Breakfast was amazing and the property were so beautiful. The hotel has really nice outdoor bath and indoor bath, as well as private bath too for additional charges. Love their idea in providing free points(exchange with some items) for not requesting to make up our rooms! Would love to be back again!
